Yankees get career-best 8 shutout innings from Clarke Schmidt in 5-0 win to sweep Twins

NEW YORK -- Francisco Lindor left the New York Mets' game against the Chicago Cubs after the second inning Wednesday night due to flu-like symptoms.

Lindor, one of two Mets to start all 30 games this season along with first baseman Pete Alonso, batted third and popped out in the first inning. The four-time All-Star shortstop didn't have a chance in the field before he was replaced for the third inning by Joey Wendle, who missed Sunday's game due to flu-like symptoms.

Only Marcus Semien, Freddie Freeman and Matt Olson have played in more games since the start of the 2022 season than Lindor, who has played in 351 out of a possible 354 games in that span. He pinch hit for the Mets on June 17, 2023, hours after his wife, Katie Reguero, gave birth to the couple's second child.
